Frank Ace Duo CD 1986

Back in the day when we were playing the hotel circuit, we would record once a week... to listen to our performance. Sometimes we sounded good; other times we were so busy entertaining the crowd that the tapes were not very clean...too much crowd noise. One night in Burlington, Colorado it was just Larry Livgren and me. I turned the recorder on and it was a perfect night! We used a "AM/FM Panasonic double cassette boom box... :-) It worked great. We set it in front of our 15" speaker and turned it on. At the end of each, set we would turn the 120 minute cassette over, take our break and then hit start at the begining of the next set. I have mastered the tape of that night and burned a CD of the show. We were better than we thought! We were a hot duo, and we played cover songs from the top 40 of the day. Of course, we did our own arrangements. The CD is "Livgren & Ace Live in Burlington, Colo". I will try to put some of the songs up for you to hear. Right now you can only purchase this CD by sending $12.00 to Chueffa Records, P.O. Box 7462, Saint Joseph, MO 64507. There are pic's of us, so check them out. More info to come later...

"Live in England"

On February 19, 2006, I went to Castor England to perform with The Blues Crusaders. They are a very good four (4) piece blues band. They added a trumpet player and an alto sax player to augment the group. I didn't know they recorded the shows, but I'm glad they did. Chueffa Records released a live CD of that show, "Frank Ace Live in England" available here or on www.cdbaby.com. The Blues Crusaders are: Jeremy Watson, bandleader and guitarist; Rick Hudson on drums; "Bruno" on bass guitar; and Jaime McGovern on Hammond B-3 organ. Plus, two really extraordinary musicians sat in, Joe Offeen on trumpet and Pete Grogan on alto sax. The band played exceptionally well! Thanks, guys! I only wish we could have had more time. Everybody got to solo and that's what makes it so good. "A great jam!" Plus a couple of surprises along the way. Blues & Rhythm magazine reviewer Phil Wight came out wearing a "Bury the Bone" t-shirt...;-) The audience was stomping and clapping, even singing along with us. It was a great night. The original (2) shows were edited down to seventy minutes. The CD was recorded at the Stamford Arts Centre in Lincolnshire. Thanks go to "Shakedown Productions". I really had a good time, and I was treated like a STAR ...:-) Thanks Gerard! Well, I gotta run. Seeya soon!

Frank Ace
